Introduction to Cultural Competence for people working with Aboriginal clients/staff - one day
In addition to including the above topics this session is run with a Working Culture consultant and an Aboriginal consultant. More time is spent on historical aspects and institutionalised racism. Participants are encouraged to ask the Aboriginal consultant questions and she will give her perspective on the issues raised.
Introduction to Cultural Competence - specific ethnic groups – one day
More time is spent on information, discussion and activity re the specific ethnic group. These seminars are delivered in partnership with community leaders. A presenter from the specific ethnic groups will be present.
Introduction to Cultural Competence for HR staff – one day
More time is spent on information, discussion and activity about assessing, identifying and implementing CC policies, practices and procedures. There is emphasis on developing inclusive practice and systems.
Introduction to Cultural Competence for Managers - one day
More time is spent on information, discussion and activity about people management and assessing, identifying and implement practices that are inclusive as well as productive.
Skill development in cultural competence
Course is specific to organisational context and requirements of attendees and depending on this may include;
- practising culturally competent communication using DVD recording and feedback
- management style
- policy writing
- written communication.
